Kia ora e te whānau,
Together We Thrive
Welcome back to Term 3 – it's hard to believe we are already halfway through the school year! I hope you had a special time reconnecting as a whānau over the holidays. It was such a joy to welcome everyone back on Monday morning, and to warmly greet our new students and their families at our Whakatau. These shared moments reflect the strength, connection, and spirit of our Kio Kio community—because when we come together, we truly thrive.
Our wonderful teachers have also spent time over the break planning engaging and purposeful learning programmes for Term 3. Their passion and commitment ensure our tamariki have every opportunity to flourish across the curriculum. At the same time, the holidays offer an important chance for staff to rest, recharge, and return refreshed—ready to bring their best energy, creativity, and care into the classroom. We are lucky to have such dedicated kaiako supporting our learners each day.
We have a busy and exciting term ahead, filled with opportunities for our students to grow in confidence, character, and connection. From sporting events and leadership opportunities to creative expression and academic achievement—this is a time where, together, we thrive.
Cross Country – Building Resilience Together
Our students are training daily in preparation for the Kio Kio School Cross Country on the 6th of August. Whether it’s running laps, pacing themselves, or encouraging others, we are proud of the determination and manaakitanga our tamariki are showing.
Cross country is more than a race—it’s about resilience, teamwork, and striving to do our personal best. We love seeing our students embrace challenges, support one another, and celebrate progress along the way.
Cadbury Chocolate Fundraiser – Collective Effort
A huge thank you to all the families who have sold and paid for their box of chocolate bars as part of our school fundraiser. Your contributions directly support enriching experiences and resources for our students.
This kind of collective effort shows the power of a united school community—we are so grateful to everyone who helped make this a success.
School Disco – Let’s Groove!
Our incredible Student Councillors have been hard at work preparing for the School Disco happening tonight – Thursday, 17 July!
The theme is Matching Outfits – so grab a sibling or friend and show off your coordinated style. Or just come dressed in your favourite fun outfit—everyone is welcome, and everyone belongs.
The disco is a chance to come together in celebration, dance, and joy. It’s yet another way we build a sense of belonging and fun here at Kio Kio—because when we celebrate as one, we thrive.
Please read the poster included in this newsletter for all the details—entry times, cost, and what’s on offer. We can't wait to see everyone on the dance floor!
Thank you for your continued support, generosity, and belief in what we do at Kio Kio School. It’s through our shared vision, values, and commitment that we see our tamariki—and our whole community—shine.
Ngā manaakitanga,
